preordered this from 'the book' website for a little more than its retailing now, but still worth the $$.
The only real drawback to this set is the price when compared to the other instructionals. However, I think its got more worthwhile content then the others combined and it definitely raises the bar for instructionals.
For more season riders and/or boat owners the first disc may not be that helpful, but still worth watching. This and the second disc should be required viewing for anyone about to go wakeboarding for the first time.
The third thru fifth discs are very detailed with every trick and provide so much more actual instruction than anything else out there. There is a split screen feature which is a little awkward to get used to when its showing two version of a trick... however its very helpful when its split into both Regular and Goofy stances. Every trick is shown side by side in both stances so you just focus on your stance. This feature is great for me as I ride right foot forward and most videos don't show enough of this.
For those with trampolines it has clips on how to practice flips etc on a tramp before trying moves on the water.
This is not something just can sit down and watch all the way thru as its obviously incredibly long. Besides whats listed above there is a definitely feel like the narrators/instructors are actually trying to TEACH not just show. Other than waketrix (which I really liked from my beginner's point of view) the other three videos tend to do more of a 'just show the trick and give a few pointers' approach. Its not that the others are bad, but compared to this they just don't come close to the new standard.
In a few words: Very Thorough, Very Useful.
If the price is too high for you, i'd go with waketrix as it does have a similar approach in stressing the basics/fundamentals and spending much more time on those instead assuming all riders magically learn how to ride, ride switch, and be very good at edging after their first few hours of riding. But, price aside this is by far the best out there and well worth the price in my book. too bad it was released in the middle of winter when most of us can't ride much if at all!
